Chernigov- the city of ancient legends

Legends are alive in our ancient city. Chernigov is one of the oldest cities in Ukraine. This small city on the Desna river keeps memories about old times of Kievan Rus, princes and the glory of our land.
The city is located in the northern region of Ukraine with Chernigov being the center of Chernigov region. Chernigov is easy to reach from Kiev, it is located 140 km north from the capital of Ukraine, however the two cities are different and unique in their own ways. Chernigov is a very calm and cozy city with population less than 300,000 people – no traffic jams and no much hustle, it is a great place to rest, roam around and enjoy the atmosphere.

Chernigov has survived different times – it was powerful and weak, ruling and subordinating, dominating and ruined. In different epochs it was under the ruling of Lithuania, Poland, Russia…Wars and other troubles and sorrows caused a lot of harm to the city, still the city has been renewed and continued to grow. Today Chernigov is a beautiful friendly city, preserving it`s history and developing, ancient and young at the same time, keeping old legends and waiting for new ones…
