Chernigov Nunnery

Between the Rampart and Boldina Hill there is a real nunnery. It is called Eletsky. The name comes from the name of the tree “el” (“Fir- tree” in English) on which (another legend!) one of Chernigov princes saw an icon and to honor this event he created a church in the 11th century. The territory of the nunnery is unbelievably beautiful. In summertime the yard is all covered with roses planted by nuns` caring hands. You can visit a nice church on the territory and see a great tower which is the part of the nunnery.
Right near the walls of the nunnery there is a burial place where according to … again a legend Prince Chorny was buried. It is a big burial hill made in the 10th century still breathing with history.
